Our Philosophy

Doctor’s appointments can be a little scary for kids. Cold exam tables, strange items like stethoscopes and otoscopes, and an exam that can be, well, a little uncomfortable (and let’s not get into shots…). For parents, visits can also be stressful. Will my child cooperate? Will I have the time to talk to my child’s doctor about the concerns I have, or will they have

to hurry to their next appointment? What about these new development milestones that are all brand new to me, let alone my child?

Let’s change that.

As your pediatrician, it’s my job not only to treat and prevent illness for your child, but to also educate parents, providing advice, “best practices” and support as you set your child on the best pathway to good health. It’s also my responsibility (and joy!) to get to know your child for the beautiful, special person they are growing into. It’s my goal to be an advocate for them and your shoulder to lean on as we navigate this wonderful journey of parenting together.

How do we do that? By choosing quality over quantity. It means our appointments aren’t limited to 15 minutes. It means I spend some time talking and playing with your child BEFORE we start the actual exam, getting the opportunity to observe them just being a kid. That’s the best way to tell if they’re developing normally and to give you guidance to help them grow and thrive. Then let’s do the exam, but let’s do it the right way. Let’s take our time, going over every aspect of their development. I promise to listen to your questions, hear out your concerns and allow you all the time you need to feel good about your child’s care and outlook. Let’s make your child part of the conversation, teaching them how to advocate for their own good health and educating them about how to live their best healthy life. And, if we need a little more specialized care, I’ll help you navigate the complicated network of specialists to identify someone I know and trust to join our little care team.

It’s also my job to make sure I’m here if you need me. Goodness knows ear infections, RSV and pink eye wait for no one. That’s why I’m making it easier to get a hold of me via phone or text for a quick question, a medication refill or to make an unexpected appointment. I’m committed to giving your child the urgent care they need, meaning your child is seen and diagnosed the same day you call, and on the road to recovery. But if it’s care that can’t wait and an ER trip is necessary, I’ll be right there to follow up after your visit to make sure your child continues to improve past emergency care.

Being a pediatrician means being your partner. Let’s do this together!
